TEETH WHITENING

YOUR BRIGHTEST SMILE

Enjoy a brighter smile

It's never been easier to quickly and safely improve the appearance of your smile.

Stained or discoloured teeth can be improved by teeth whitening treatments, which will have a huge impact on your appearance and boost your confidence.

Tooth staining or discolouration can often be caused by:

  • drinking black tea or coffee, sugary drinks, or red wine

  • eating foods like beetroot, cranberries or blackberries

  • smoking tobacco

  • taking certain medicines

HERE'S WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT FROM YOUR WHITENING APPOINTMENT

Whitening what to expect

1. PRE-WHITENING EXAMINATION

Whether you choose in-chair whitening or at-home whitening, you will first need to undergo a thorough dental examination, which will:

  • identify the cause of your discoloration

  • determine whether teeth whitening will be the most suitable and effective solution for you

  • assess whether your discoloration might be caused by an underlying dental issue, which should be addressed first.

2. PRE-WHITENING HYGIENE

Once good oral health has been established, and your plan for whitening has been agreed, you'll undergo a hygiene. This helps to remove tartar (superficial staining) so we can whiten your teeth more effectively.

3. WHITENING TREATMENT

You can choose either an in-chair or take-home whitening treatment.

  • IN-CHAIR WHITENING: Your dentist will apply a whitening solution and use a bright light to activate the gel.

  • TAKE-HOME WHITENING: Your dentist will prepare a take home kit of whitening gel and trays that will be custom-fitted for you to use. Our gels contain fluoride, which re-mineralises the tooth surface to protect against tooth sensitivity.

The effectiveness of treatments vary between individuals.

4. POST-WHITENING CARE

Everyone is different and you may experience teeth and gum sensitivity for a few days after whitening, especially from in-chair treatments. If you feel that you are experiencing sensitivity or other symptoms, you should contact us so that we can advise the best course of action.
